Chick-fil-A moves outside of the mall food court in 1986, opening its first stand-alone restaurant on North Druid Hills Road in Atlanta. However, some LGBTQ advocates stated that while they were hopeful about the decision, Chick-fil-A still has a ways to go before the chain can be called truly inclusive to the LGBTQ+ community. Truett Cathy named it the "chicken steak sandwich" and tried to trademark it.
