Morris "Moe" Dalitz (December 25, 1899 - August 31, 1989) known as Moe Dalitz was an American bootlegger, racketeer, casino owner and philanthropist who was one of the major figures who helped shape Las Vegas, Nevada in the 20th century. He started out as a bookie and an operator in illegal gambling clubs, backed by a notorious local crime family in his hometown, the Mayfield Road Mob. Hughes took great satisfaction antagonizing his host, eventually saying I dont need to leave, Ill buy the place. It was typical Howard Hughes banter, but Dalitz told Hughes to put up or shut up, telling the millionaire to fork over $15 million dollars.
